Welcome to the powered by flapjack website!
powered by flapjack is a small woodturning and woodworking business based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, as happy to be involved in a production run of hundreds of gigantic wooden knitting needles and crochet hooks(!), as to be designing and creating small unusual, sometimes unique, wooden gifts with a strong emphasis on beauty and quality of finish.
Alongside the main day-to-day woodworking, I have started to produce videos following the build process for various projects I have been working on. These videos are available to view further down the page, or on my YouTube Channel.

I suppose some kind of introduction is in order – I’m Tom, and I’m powered by flapjack.
When I’m not out and about cycling or running round the many country roads, hills, and muddy trails of West Yorkshire, I tend to spend most of my time involved in one creative activity or another, and over the last few years this has mainly been woodworking of one form or another, from spoon carving to bowl turning to furniture making, it is all fascinating!
It was woodturning however which allowed me to start the transition from computer programmer to full time woodworking.
